The
General Clinical Research Center (CRC) at the University of Chicago is
located in the Billings Hospital, W-5 Corridor of the University of
Chicago Hospitals.
The
medical center is situated on the campus of the University of Chicago.
To
reach the Clinical Research Center at the University of Chicago:
By
car from southbound Lakeshore Drive
1.
Turn west (right) on 57th Drive, at the traffic light in front of the
Museum of Science and Industry.
2. Follow 57th west past the museum and continue as it curves to the
left (south).
3. Shortly after curving to the south, watch for a gray and white sign
on the right pointing to the University of Chicago (Midway Plaisance).
4. Turn right on the Midway Plaisance and proceed west under the Metra
Tracks.
5. Continue west along the Midway approximately 1 mile, through several
traffic lights. You will pass the University of Chicago campus to the
north and south of the Midway.
6. Turn right on Cottage Grove Avenue (traffic light) and immediately
right again on 59th Street (essentially a U-turn).
7. Proceed one block east on 59th Street to Maryland, where the
entrance to the parking garage is well marked.
8. Turn left on Maryland; we suggest you leave your car with the valet
parking service.
9. You may use any of 3 pedestrian entrances on Maryland Avenue
directly across from the parking garage.
10. When you have entered the building, ask for directions to Physical
Therapy, which is in the middle of the complex on the first floor.
Enter Physical Therapy and proceed to elevator number 1.
11. Take elevator number 1 to the 5th floor. You will be at the nursing
station of the Clinical Research Center when you exit the elevator.
All of our offices and facilities are on the W-5 floor of the
Gilman-Smith wing of Billings Hospital.
By
car from the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-80/90/94)
1.
Exit on Garfield Boulevard (5500 south) and turn east.
2. Proceed east to Martin Luther King Drive; go straight through the
traffic light and enter Washington Park. At the fork bear right.
3. Shortly after bearing right (south), turn left (east) on 57th
Street. Immediately turn right (south) at the traffic light at Cottage
Grove Avenue. Proceed 3 blocks south to 59th Street.
4. Turn left (east) on 59th Street. Proceed one block on 59th Street to
Maryland, where the entrance to the parking garage is well marked.
5. Turn left on Maryland; we suggest you leave your car with the valet
parking service.

Public Transportation From the Loop
You
may reach the University of Chicago campus from the Loop via CTA public
transportation or Metra Illinois Central railroad.
CTA - Bus or 'El"
1. Take the #6 Jeffrey Express bus (which boards on State Street) south
to 59th street and Stony Island Avenue. Walk west to 59th street and S.
Ellis Avenue and then north to the entrance at 5812 S. Ellis. -or-
2. Take the Red line ("Howard El") (which boards on State Street) south
to 55th street (Garfield Blvd.) and then take CTA bus # 55 west to S.
Ellis and 55th. Walk south to the entrance at 5812. S. Ellis. -or-
3. Take the CTA bus # 4 (the "Cottage Grove" bus) south to Cottage
Grove Avenue and 59th street and walk east to the pedestrian entrances
on S. Maryland Avenue. -or-
4. Take the #171 and #172 CTA University of Chicago Hyde-Park bus
routes which both stop at 58th Street and Ellis Avenue. Enter the
building at 5812 S. Ellis.
5. When you have entered the building, ask for directions to Physical
Therapy, which is in the middle of the complex on the first floor.
Enter Physical Therapy and proceed to elevator number 1.
6. Take elevator number 1 to the 5th floor. You will be at the nursing
station of the Clinical Research Center when you exit the elevator.

Metra
Illinois Central ("IC") Railroad
1. Take the Illinois Central to Hyde Park 59th Street and walk west to
S. Ellis Avenue. The Illinois Central boards at the Randolph Street
station (Randolph and Michigan avenues). Use the entrance at 5812 S.
Ellis to reach the CRC.
2. When you have entered the building, ask for directions to Physical
Therapy, which is in the middle of the complex on the first floor.
Enter Physical Therapy and proceed to elevator number 1.
3. Take elevator number 1 to the 5th floor. You will be at the nursing
station of the Clinical Research Center when you exit the elevator.

Employment For Students
Student employees must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate
degree program at the University of Chicago. We do not normally have
positions for college or graduate students from other schools, nor for
high school students.
